Western Australia is home to eight of Australia’s 15 biodiversity hotspots, containing  thousands of native species, many found nowhere else in the world.   Across WA there are 178 Critically Endangered flora species, 152 endangered, 120 vulnerable and 16 extinct. A significant portion of native flora is fighting for survival. “Year-on-year this number continues to grow with no clear plan for these species – many without a recovery plan at all. It is appalling that in the richest state in the country we have allowed our natural world to decline so rapidly and consistently.” (CCWA 2026)

While we are working on expanding our capabilities to propagate many if not eventually all of these species in an attempt to offer these back into the ecosystem, to re-home in parts that remain undamaged. This is a significant amount of work, currently focusing on Santalum (further information here) while building up the selection and volume of species we can offer.

With a masters degree in agriculture combined with a long standing history in horticulture Braidsdale was created providing implementation, to return these plant species back into the natural landscape. Providing temperature controlled germination and indoor propagation the success rate still fluctuates and is the reason many species are not commercially viable. We manage to continue mostly from plant sales and volunteers. As a not-for-profit proceeds are not disbursed to members and only used for the organisations existence and purpose to advance the natural environment. We work daily to try fill a gap that is left forgotten or ignored.

We continuously require support by way of interest in projects and ways to find funding. The objective is to roll out these native species in areas that are in need. We are pleased to offer proposals, project management, advice and designed plantation to hopefully gain the long term desired results. We can alternatively offer end to end solutions or just supply. Any costs are clear and structured to provide a beneficial service.
